
CAPT CHRISTOPHER A. VECCHI, CAP

Capt Vecchi first joined the Civil Air Patrol in 1996, as a cadet member of the Wright Brothers 282nd Aero Composite Squadron in New Lebanon, Ohio.
As a cadet, Capt Vecchi:
- Earned the Amelia Earhart Award.
- Participated in the National Ground Search and Rescue school 1998-1999.
- Participated as a primary delegate to the Ohio Wing CAC from 1998-1999.
- Named the 1999 Group VII, Ohio Wing Phase III Cadet of the Year.
- Served as the squadron's Cadet Commander
After becoming a senior officer in 2003, Capt Vecchi:
- Completed the Aerospace Education Program for Senior Members.
- Achieved qualification as a FAA private pilot and a rated CAP Pilot.
- Achieved qualification as a Mission Scanner and Ground Branch Director
- Served as course director for the 2009 OHWG Squadron Leadership School.
Under Capt Vecchi's command, the squadron was honored with a Unit Citation award in 2008 and was named the 2008 and 2009 "Group VII Mark N Shirk Squadron of the Year".
