Wright Brothers 282nd Aero Composite Squadron - Civil Air Patrol

CADET MEMBERSHIP

EncampmentCivil Air Patrol cadet membership is open to young people 12-18 years old. A cadet can remain in the program until age 21. Cadets progress through a 16-step program of aviation and aerospace activities while learning invaluable lessons on leadership and teamwork. Not only that, but cadets have fun! In the first year alone, a cadet can:
- Go flying
- Earn rank and awards
- Launch Rockets
- Participate in search and rescue
- Camp out
- Meet new friends

To join the Civil Air Patrol your first step is to visit a squadron meeting. During the meeting you will be shown around, introduced to squadron staff members, and provided with an opportunity to ask any questions you may have. You will also be provided with a New Cadet Packet to review, which contains useful information for new members as well as a membership application.

Once the application is completed, a parent will need to accompany the new cadet to a squadron meting to discuss participation in the cadet program and to provide payment for membership dues. The National Headquarters membership dues for new cadets are $34.00 and can be paid by check or money order made out to "Civil Air Patrol NHQ/DP". For this fee, cadets receive their study materials, a binder, and a brand new cadet dress uniform. After reviewing the application, the squadron commander will sign and mail your application. Your membership materials arrive by mail within approximately two weeks! Cadets require several personalized uniform accessories which are outlined in the New Cadet Packet. With this cost taken into account, the total first year cost for a new cadet is approximately $70.00.

It is Civil Air Patrol policy that no member shall be excluded from participation in, denied the benefits of, or subjected to discrimination in any CAP program or activity on the basis of race, sex, age, color, religion, national origin, or disability (formerly handicap).
