CADET SPONSOR MEMBERSHIP
Parents, grandparents,
and legal guardians have an
opportunity to participate in Civil Air Patrol activities with their cadet through
a Cadet Sponsor Membership.
As a Cadet Sponsor Member, you may serve as a chaperone,
provide
transportation, or supervise
cadets during squadron activities. Cadet Sponsors pay
discounted annual membership fees and have a limited
time commitment. There are no uniform requirements for Cadet Sponsors, though options are available. Cadet Sponsor Membership also allows you to ride along with your cadet in CAP vehicles or aircraft!
To join as a Cadet Sponsor Member simply indicate your interest to your cadet's flight or squadron commander. You will be provided with a New Cadet Sponsor Packet to review, which contains useful information for new members as well as a membership application. All new Cadet Sponsor Members joining Civil Air Patrol are required to submit fingerprints which are used to complete a confidential FBI background check at the national level. Members of the squadron are on hand at our regular meetings to complete the fingerprinting process for you.
Once the application is completed, bring it to a squadron meeting along with payment for membership dues. The National Headquarters membership dues for new Cadet Sponsor Members are $30.00 and can be paid by check or money order made out to "Civil Air Patrol NHQ/DP". All adults joining Civil Air Patrol are required to submit fingerprints which are used to complete a confidential FBI background check at the national level. Members of the squadron are on hand at our regular meetings to complete the fingerprinting process for you. After reviewing the application, the squadron commander will sign and mail your application materials and your membership card will arrive by mail within approximately two weeks!
Cadet Sponsor Members must complete the Level One training program prior to working with cadets. More information on these training classes will be provided by your squadron staff once the application process is completed.
It is Civil Air Patrol policy that no member shall be excluded from participation in, denied the benefits of, or subjected to discrimination in any CAP program or activity on the basis of race, sex, age, color, religion, national origin, or disability (formerly handicap).
