SQUADRON INFORMATION
The Wright Brothers 282nd Aero Composite Squadron exists to offer the many benefits of Civil Air Patrol membership to those in the Miami Valley. Our members come from many walks of life but all focus on service to our communities through Civil Air Patrol's three missions. Our members reside in communities such as Brookville, Clayton, Huber Heights, Vandalia, Trotwood, Dayton, Moraine, West Carrollton, Miamisburg, Springboro, Germantown, Farmersville, West Alex, Lewisburg, and Eaton just to name a few!
Our squadron is always looking for volunteers to join our organization. We need both adult and teenage members to fulfill our missions. Civil Air Patrol membership is voluntary and does not obligate you to any type of military service. We offer several membership options to suite the needs of our volunteers:
Cadet Membership - Cadets must be at least 12 years of age and must have completed the fifth grade. The maximum age to join as a cadet is 18 years old, though current cadets may remain in the program through their 21st birthday.
Officer Membership - Officers must be adults, 18 years of age or older. You do not need to be a pilot or even like to fly to join Civil Air Patrol as there are many opportunities to serve!
Cadet Sponsor Membership - The Cadet Sponsor Membership category is open to parents, guardians, and grandparents of Civil Air Patrol cadet members. This membership category is designed to allow participation with the cadet member in CAP activities without requiring participation in the officer professional development program.
Patron Membership - Patron membership is open to individuals who do not want an active role in the organization but still desire to support the Civil Air Patrol and it's missions. Patron members enjoy most privileges of CAP membership and do not participate in the officer professional development program.

The patch worn by members of the Wright Brothers 282nd Aero Composite Squadron has a very significant meaning. The hawk at the center of the crest represents one that does not rest until the objective is achieved. The lightning bolt signifies swiftness and power through unity. The red cross is the international humanitarian symbol, relating our commitment to provide aid to our neighbors. The black and white checkered area signifies consistency and reliability, as our members stand ready day or night to answer the call. The blue scroll that holds our unit name signifies loyalty, the very heart of our unit. |
